Where the hell is my thread?
Where the hell is my thread?
I prefer reading threads in traditional Ascending order — you know, the way 99% of forums around the globe are coded? Because I can't apparently figure out how to set the preference permanently please explain how it's done? Here is what I would like to permanently see:
THREADS
OP/First post on top, proceeding linearly until the most recent reply is on bottom.
FORUM BROWSING
Newest replies to a thread on top.
You people actually read it this way? When you can't even find the thread you just replied to? What's next: the grassy knoll? WTF?

Re: Where the hell is my thread?
I still see it at Batch Rotate *ONE* Graphic 44 times and Preserve the Image's Transparency?
Re: Where the hell is my thread?
It isn't just that, the whole board is whacked! WTF!
Okay, first, when I click on a forum to browse, the thread most recently replied to is supposed to be on top. I can't see it.
Next, when I read a thread, I want the OP's post at the top, and most recent replies at the botton.
Example: I'll post this reply to you. It's in the Kudos and Rants forum right? The thread should be on top, right? It's nowhere.

Get a load of this:
The first post displayed in Kudos and Rants is dated . . .
2009-03-31, Tue 12:04 PM
I'm curious why you're running a Discourse forum in a phpBB shell (?) but I need to shut down for the night. I'll follow up tomorrow. There are threads I'd like to read but I cannot read them date flipped this way.

Re: Where the hell is my thread?
What browser are you using? Perhaps your account is messed up?
If the latter, then either you may need to wait for the site admin to fix (send him a PM or via Contact Us) or create a new account.

Re: Where the hell is my thread?
P.S. This bulletin board software was upgraded recently. Perhaps in the upgrade your account got messed up. Take that up with the site admin (user magick)

Re: Where the hell is my thread?
Have you tried clearing the cache in your browser, logging out of IM Discourse Server, restarting your computer and logging back into the IM Discourse server?

Re: Where the hell is my thread?
I think the clue is in the "Batch rotate thread".
In my User Control Panel, Board Preferences, Edit display options, setting "Display topic order direction" is set to "Descending" (so most-recent topic is at the top) but "Display post order direction" is set to "Ascending" (so most-recent post is at the bottom).
Okay, so what are the current settings?XnTriq wrote:I thought I set the preference in my Control Panel but it has no effect.

Re: Where the hell is my thread?
Okay I think I have this fixed. Flushing Cache & Cookies defninitely helped, thanks (Fred?) but I would just like to verify against another member's settings. I was going to upload a screenshot but I gather that isn't on. Please let me know how you've achieved:
Forum Browse=Most Recent at TOP
In-Thread Reading=(the exact opposite) the OP's first post starting the thread=AT TOP -or- Most Recent at BOTTOM
User Control Panel \Board Preferences \Edit Display Options
Display topics from previous days: All Topics
Display topics ordering by: Post Time
Display topic order direction: Descending
Display posts from previous days: 1 year
Display posts ordering by: Post Time
Display post order direction: Ascending

Re: Where the hell is my thread?
You have what I have in my User Control Panel \Board Preferences \Edit Display Options. For me that shows the Topics with most recent at the top and for Posts it shows most recent at bottom.

Re: Where the hell is my thread?
P.S. To post images, you need to upload to some free hosting service such as dropbox.com and put the URL here. This server does not store any images apart from your icon.
Re: Where the hell is my thread?
Thanks Fred. Which one do you use?

Re: Where the hell is my thread?
I mostly use my own server hosted at Godaddy. But I suggest dropbox. Many others have too much advertising and are hard to use without downloading the adverted product in place of the image. Also some of them do not work well for other than JPG files.
